With the aid of Chief Engineer L. Shen, we were able to formulate schematics for underbarrel weapons that would take advantage of our universal rail mounting system. C.O. Bradford commented that while attaching such a weapon to a rifle would no doubt significantly boost its firepower, the increased weight and bulk of the weapon would ruin otherwise finely tuned balance, and would slow down our soldiers, as well as make it harder to fire the rifle on reaction. Additionally, carrying ammunition for an extra weapon would require the soldier to sacrifice some of their carrying capacity. R. Tygan.
